Joseph Canizales ('20 Sculpture)
Fine Artist
Receiving the McKeown Special Project Award in his sophomore year and using the stipend for a trip to Arches National Park was a pivotal moment for Joseph. It drew him closer to nature and set him on the path to creating sculptures about the companionship of man & nature. He spent two months last summer refining his craft at the Yale Norfolk Summer Residency Program and his impressive resume includes a Durwood Internship at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and at Open Spaces where he helped with the fabrication and installation for the Kansas City-wide art exhibition.
Joseph has since earned his MFA in Visual Art from Washington University in St. Louis.
